Tuesday 26th March 2008
7.30pm
Chipping Norton Town Hall
1. Looking ahead we need to achieve:
- Greater public awareness
- More public points of information (about Anonddo)
- More volunteers (in particular marketing/PR and administrative)
- More information available via the website
- More involvement with local schools
2. Gina Burrows highlighted the positives of money for Anonddo going directly
to the students and children of Bangladesh. The lack of administrative
costs, employee costs and overheads is our key USP. A common problem for
many charities is that the public perceive the infrastructure and overheads
as being unnecessary barriers preventing their donations from going directly
to the intended recipients. Anonddo does not have these drawbacks and
should maximise on this fact.
3. Gina also stressed that we should utilize the natural links between
school children in Bangladesh and school children in the UK. Promoting
Anonddo in schools would also serve to raise children's awareness about
the world outside Chipping Norton, something that parents and school teachers
alike are keen to do.
4. A common thread was the urgent need for a key individual to take responsibility
for PR including raising awareness and the local public profile of Anonddo
and its work. Since the meeting we have been lucky enough to secure the
commitment of Katie Warren, an experienced marketer based in Swerford,
Chipping Norton. More details will be available on the website shortly.
5. The key priority for the short term is to secure our charitable status
and charity registration number. This should greatly facilitate our public
profile and fund raising ability, in particular letting us set up a Just
Giving link on the website. It will also enable us to appeal for funds
from some of the larger umbrella charities.
6. A second priority is to set up a portable eye catching set of promotional
material such as a stand, banner, mugs, pens etc that can be taken to
schools, sports events (such as the Chipping Norton football/rugby clubs)
and other local events. It is envisioned that this will be the first responsibility
of the PR Manager.
